Silly boy

This is SUCH a fun age for Cooper. Even though he may have quite the little personality, {and sassiness} he cracks me up.

Right now it's imitation time. Coop tries to do just about everything daddy and I do.

But I have no idea where he learned this?!?!

Yes, mommy has monkey toes too. But not in front of him!

Happy Tuesday!

Back to life

... Back to reality!

Heading to work with my nugget this morning :) He wasn't happy to wake up before 8 a.m.
So while I was on vacation I more or less unplugged. It was fabulous.

I've really enjoyed the past 10 days. Thankfully, I'm coming back to work at a busy time so the day has flown by. In fact, I can't believe I've only got 25 minutes left.

Also very thankful to be back to working 8 to 5. Those summer hours are rough.

I'm hoping to post some about what we did during our time off soon. Honestly, it was pretty much 10 days of relaxing and just what we all needed. In fact, one 2 p.m. rolled around today I was ready for my nap!

For now, I'm going to work on cleaning off my desk, since it does look like a bomb may have exploded or something.

Until tomorrow!

Red- red- red- red- redneck!

Sing the Blake Shelton song in your head for the proper delivery.

So, the boys and girls 'round here are pretty darn laid back. We live on 5 acres and absolutely love all the space. Which totally entitles us to bring out our inner redneck every now and then :)

For instance, we let our kids wear 'dorags while out in the hot summer sun helping daddy bale hay, because they won't keep their hats on long enough.

We love enjoying a yummy popsicle while lounging in the plastic pool.

And most of all, we chill on the slip & slide, even ealking instead of sliding down. (Yes, mom and dad joined in this fun, but there are no photos to prove it!

Let's just say there's more where this came from, I just don't have pictures of it.

Midweek randoms

Hi friends! Nothing like taking a two-week blogging break then coming back for a random post, right?

{1} Can we just fast-forward to October? Seriously. I have so much work stuff going on right now that the next 10 weeks will literally be a blur. But keep the warm weather, please.

{2} Speaking of weather, check this out. Believe it or not, I love it. But I'm getting really irritated about the fact that it's cool or rainy every weekend. Mama wants some pool time!

{3} One of my best girlfriends came in for a visit over the weekend. Her mom lives about 3 miles from a local winery, so we decided a girls trip were in store. We had an absolute
blast and have decided to make our winery trips a non-negotiable part of every visit!

{4} I can't believe this man is practically 20 months old. Guys, that is 1 2/3 years. Craziness. He is so goofy and I just love him to pieces.

{5} Now that gardens are in full force, we've been having lots of fresh veggies. Thank you to my parents and nice neighbors :) I made yummy squash patties to go with our tuna noodle casserole recently and they are definitely a part of our summer menu now!

{6} We had a great Fourth! I took quite a few pictures, so I should probably devote an entire post to it, but here's a sneak peak ...

{7} The hubby and I celebrated our anniversary yesterday. And spent our time after work baling/picking up alfalfa. Then he picked up pizza and we had a yummy cake I baked. We're likely going to Nashville next weekend, so I think we'll do a nice dinner while there. I'm not thrilled that we spent our anni that way, but that's just real life for us.

Last year, in St. Louis
{8} As you can probably tell, I lightened my hair quite a bit last week and am in love! Life is so much better blonde :)

What's going on in your lives?

Daddy's Boy

My biggest fear has come true. My baby boy is officially a Daddy's Boy and doens't want much to do with his mom. Cue the waterworks.

I'm told this is just a phase. And if I start taking him out to ride on the lawnmower, tractor, etc. he'll think I'm just as cool.

In complete honesty though, it does take the heat off of me a bit. Cooper isn't constantly watching me to see what I do and then turning around and imitating it. He sure does with his daddy, though, and I'm telling hubby that needs to be even more inspiration to set a good example.

I've always loved Rodney Atkins' "Watching You," and now it has even more meaning. That is my boys to a T.

Driving through town just my boy and me
With a happy meal in his booster seat
Knowing that he couldn't have the toy
Till his nuggets were gone
A green traffic light turned straight to red
I hit my brakes and mumbled under my breath
His fries went a flying and his orange drink covered his lap
Well then my four year old said a four letter word
That started with "s" and I was concerned
So I said son now now where did you learn to talk like that

[Chorus one]

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So I've been watching you

We got back home and I went to the barn
I bowed my head and I prayed real hard
Said Lord please help me help my stupid self
Then this side of bedtime later that night
Turning on my son's Scooby Doo nightlight
He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees
He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
And spoke to God like he was talking to a friend
And I said son now where'd you learn to pray like that

[Chorus two]

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We like fixing things and holding mama's hand
Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So I've been watching you

[Bridge]

With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug
Said my little bear is growing up
He said but when I'm big I'll still know what to do

[Chorus three]

Cause I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
By then I'll be as strong as superman
We'll be just alike, hey won't we dad
When I can do everything you do
Cause I've been watching you

Midweek randoms!

  • Have I ever mentioned that I have arthritis in my left arm? Seven years ago, I was thrown fell off of a horse and ended up breaking my radial head {AKA, elbow}. It was a pretty bad break and the bone actually rotated, which meant surgery. And arthritis. Anyhow, I'm not sure if it's the hot, humid and rainy weather or what, but it's been acting up badly lately.
  • I know firsthand how important it is to just have time to yourself after having a baby, but I'm trying to come up with an excuse to go love on baby Henry again soon.
  • If you are needing new clothes, check out the mall NOW. We found some amazing deals over the weekend - up to 80 percent off at NY&Co., and great deals at TCP for Cooper as well. I scored these awesome pants for less than $10! In fact, I walked out with a full bag spending just under $50!

  • Sometimes, taking a day off work just isn't worth it. Which I still did about 4 hours of work this week, so that's totally not fair! And, I'm helping with a golf tournament later this week so it's been crazy finalizing everything for it, not to mention work in general. Oh, and at 4 p.m. yesterday we finally set the groundbreaking date for the big project I've been working on. So life has been a bit hectic to say the least.
  • I'm kinda wanting a new blog design, but not wanting to shell out big $$ for it. Should I attempt to do on my own? Is there anyone out there who is inexpensive? Honestly, I just want simple ... like a white background and cute headers.
  • I am so, so excited for Big Brother to start back up tonight!
  • My little sweetheart turned 19 months on Sunday. Even thought he wasn't feeling well, Mommy made his favorite meal and that made everything better!

What's been happening: photo-style :)

The hose has a leak in it, but when I walked up behind Cooper and saw this, I burst out laughing and had to grab my phone!

The only horse I would trust my baby on :)

Yes, monky man climbed up a six-foot ladder by himself. Don't worry, Daddy is just outside the picture.

Hello? Someone is obsessed with phones these days, so we gave him an old one!

Notice any resemblance between my husband and the man in the picture? We were at an event last week and he decided he wanted to be like this man :)

We're also obsessed with coozie cups right now and free advertising for Cousin Lee's pharmacy.
