Five on Friday

{1} This week went by way too quickly for my liking. Sad, because I only had to work Monday-Tuesday as our Christmas break began on Wednesday. Next week is my last week home with Mr. Cooper and I can't believe it.
This morning I actually realized that while I go back on Jan. 2, that is hubby's day off for New Year's, so we are now deciding whether Coop will go to daycare then as planned or if he will have a day home with daddy.

{2} Christmas began for us yesterday! We went to celebrate with my immediate family, as my brother's family were in that day and won't be back until next Friday and the weekend is fairly booked already. Cooper totally cleaned up and I think his cousin had a lot of fun "helping" him open all the presents while he slept in PaPa's lap :) His closet is definitely more full now and he has new toys and more.

{3} I am far too obsessed with soap operas for my own good.

{4} I am seriously toning my arms. I guess lugging around a 10-11 pound child - often in a carseat - will help things out.

{5} Merry Christmas everyone! I'm not sure how much I'll get on here in the coming days, but I wish you all a blessed holiday :)

Five on Friday

{1} For the first weekend in I don't know how long (at least three months I'd say) we have NO PLANS. And don't intend to make any. Instead, we're going to be doing some pre-baby home repairs as well as clean out the nursery. Finally! It's supposed to rain all weekend too, so that should keep us inside instead of finding stuff to do outdoors.

{2} I haven't been much of a cook the past four months. First it was the nausea, then the wedding planning or just feeling like cooking itself grossed me out. (Raw meat = nasty). Well, I got back on board this week, cooking a real dinner two nights in a row. Sorry, I dont' think hamburgers, barbecue, frozen pizza and hamburger helper qualify as real meals.

I tried a new recipe for a pork chop and potato casserole and we LOVED it. Here it is:

Ingredients:
vegetable oil
6 boneless pork chops (I used the bone-in and trimmed, since it was what i had on hand)
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 c. milk
4 potatoes, thinly sliced
1/2 c. chopped onion (I omitted as we don't care for onions)
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Direction:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place pork chops in oil and sear.
- In a medium bowl, combine the soup and milk. Arrange the potatoes and onions in bottom of a 9X13 dish. Place browned chopes over potatoes, then pour the soup mixture over all.
- Bake 30 minutes. Top with cheese, then bake an additional 20 minutes.

This was seriously a meal all in itself! Plus delicious - we liked the potatoes best, I think.

{3} I got kinda bored with Big Brother this season, but now I'm getting excited again. I think when evictees begin going to jury, it ramps up for some reason. Can't wait to see what happens this week. I'm not too sure who I want to win. I love Dani's game play but really dislike her as a person. LOVE Jeff, but don't feel he's really bringing his game. I just want to see Porsche, Shelly, Adam and Kalia out of there soon!

{4} After a visit from my college president yesterday, in which he saw my office for the first time (I'm at a satellite location) I should be getting a new computer and some office furniture *very* soon. Yay!

{5} After work today, J and I have to go get some horse feed (we buy in bulk because it's about a 45 minute drive one way.) On the way home, we plan to stop at a car dealership to do a little test driving if we have time. Yay!

HAPPY WEEKEND!!!

five on friday

I'm off today, so it's an even better Friday. Here's a bit of random-ness :)

{1} After more than four years with the SAME email password, I had to change it this morning due to possible hacking. Sigh.

{2} FINALLY got the garden planted last night. Hoping the dog will stay out and there will be plenty of sunshine mixed in with all the rain forecast for the next week.

{3} We'll be leaving for Branson in ANY MINUTE. So excited. Photos to come :)

{4} I also have Monday off of work and hope to get some in-depth stuff done around the house. I have a bridesmaids sleepover here next Friday, so I at least need to have things clean enough to be a good hostess :)

{5} We're missing a lot of things this weekend (birthday parties, a divorce party, a crawfish boil) but I'm STOKED to be getting out of town for a few days :)

Happy weekend!

Five on Friday

{one}
Work is still hectic! I've forgotten how long it takes to clean off my desk after some time away. And a software upgrade totally has me off of my game today. Hopefully next week will be better?

{two}
My good friend Jessica is getting married in TWO weeks. So last night, we died her petticoat to match the bridesmaids dresses. It looks FAB! Her man just started a new job and is in training for a few weeks, so she brought precious Payton, 2 1/2, over to play with us last night and we had a BLAST. I think we are going to have weekly play dates and I am so excited. PS, I'll have a post on dying the petticoat soon.

{three}
Have I mentioned how much I love garage sales? I've gotten some great steals lately. Walking out with a bag full of stuff for $10 is the greatest feeling ever :)

{four}
About a month ago, we purchased some azalea plants at a local festival. They are still in the containers. Whoops. What can I say? It's rained a lot. We had to pull dead stuff from where the azaleas are to be planted. Now we think they need extra soil and we need a tractor to level out the ground a bit. Being a homeowner is so much work!

{five}
I am looking forward to cleaning my house this weekend! It has not really been spic and span since Easter weekend and it's driving me crazy! I don't know if the seemingly never-ending pile of dirty dishes or the mountain of laundry is worse, but I'm hoping to make some good headway on all that this weekend!

Five on Friday

{1} I stepped on the scale this morning and noticed I lost 1 lb. in the past week. Not fabulous, but considering I haven't been the best at eating well nor have we worked out any in the past week, I don't figure I can complain much, either.

{2} The not eating well may have something to do with not cooking! Sunday we had J's birthday dinner out, and the sniff of Mc D's french friends caught his eye while we left Wally World on Monday. Then we ran up to Cape on Tuesday and it was easier to just grab something. So I've only cooked once all week. Oops. And we've been finishing off birthday cake. We're down to the last of it though, thank goodness.

{3} Even though I haven't been cooking, the fridge is still full. I'm kinda scared to clean it out for fear of what I'll discover.

{4} I'm sure everyone has already read or heard about the new Zodiac sign dates. But I'm staying an Aquarius, no matter what you say!
A few of the characteristics I think make me an Aquarius:

  • Very opinionated with strong convictions; they fight for what they believe in
  • Strong-willed and forceful in their own way
  • Quick in mind and quick to respond
  • Appreciate opportunities to be alone
  • Refined and idealistic, romantic but practical
  • They cannot be easily persuaded they are wrong.
Looking at the list of Capricorn characteristics, I guess some of those fit me as well, but I just wanna stay an Aquarius, K?

{5} I cannot believe that January is basically halfway over. Really? Before you know it, Christmas will be here again!
