Baby R2: 30/31 weeks

How far along: 31 weeks today. 63 or less days to go :) I never finished my post last week so I'll be combining today.

How big is the baby: At 30 weeks, baby was about 15.7 inches and weighed around 3 lbs. (about the size of a head of cabbage.) Eyesight continued to develop, although not very keen - Vision now and right after birth is around 20/400. At 31 weeks, baby is about 16 inches and weighs approximately 3.3 lbs - about the size of a coconut! We are now headed for a growth spurt! Baby can turn his/her head from side to side and arms, legs and body are beginning to plump out.

Weight gain/loss: +26. Officially more than my total gain with Coop. I've got to get a handle on my sweet tooth ... after Easter.

Sleep: Pretty great! Loving the new bed and I've been able to get straight back to sleep after my bathroom breaks. I've had a couple crazy Charlie horses (one work me up, the other hit when I was trying to get out of bed to pee) but other than that, really, really good.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Sweet tea, strawberries and peanuts. Anything carbs :) No aversions. Thankfully my glucose and iron levels are great so nothing to worry about when it comes to nutrition.

Gender: We'll find out when born! I'm holding strong that I think it's a girl.

Movement: A lot, but I feel like this baby isn't as active as Coop. Maybe this child will be more chill?

Worries: Nothing in particular. The baby is still very low which is painful at times, but I'm not really concerned with going into labor too soon.

The belly: Big. Ha! Everyone says I look tiny and I love seeing their expression when they find out I'm measuring a week or so ahead.

Same shirt at practically the same point in pregnancy merits a comparison shot

Today - 31 weeks
What I'm Loving: Nicer weather. Getting our house (specifically the master suite/bathroom) put back together.

Symptoms: Back pain, Charlie horses and allergies.

Big Brother: While eating and noticing a fourth chair the other day, declared "Baby Sister sit there!" Pretty sure he doesn't realize how tiny and helpless the baby will be when he/she does arrive.

What's different this time: Being so low and getting to look forward to a 36 week ultrasound!

What I'm looking forward to: Easter. I love seeing Cooper get so excited about these events. It's fun to look back at how much he has changed and I'm excited to have another baby to "grow up."

Best moment of the week: Finishing the bathroom! Moving everything back to our bedroom is a task, but then we get to start working on touching up the baby's room which makes my little nesting heart happy.

On the Mississippi

Over the weekend, the motor vessel Mississippi docked in a town just south of us, on (duh!) the Mississippi River.

It's the largest diesel towboat operating on the Mississippi River and for the first time in anyone's recollection, was open to the public for free tours.

Coop man really loves boats and all things water, so we had to take him out for the day. I'm going to let the photos speak for themselves, but he really, really loved it.

We got to walk around the boat and get information about it, the rooms, the kitchen (with a chef!) and more!

He really loved looking down into the water, and at the engines and other neat things!

He even got to "drive" the boat and play with the controls a bit.

Of course, I just enjoyed a family day, especially since life has been so hectic lately! I love these boys and making memories with them <3

Baby R2: 29 weeks!

How far along: 29 weeks. Pretty much counting down the days at this point.

How big is the baby: Baby weighs about 2.5 lbs. - the size of a butternut squash - and is just over 15 inches long from head to heel. Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and the head is growing bigger to make room for the developing brain. To meet the baby's increasing nutritional demands, mama needs plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid and iron -- plus lots of calcium since baby's bones are soaking it up!

Weight gain/loss: +23 overall. We ate like crap over the past two weeks with everything going on around the house.

Sleep: OK. I'm happy to be back in a read bed now that our furniture has been delivered, but I wake up once or twice, am hot, and just can't get comfortable. The heating pad has helped.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: No aversions (see also why I have gained 23 lbs.) But I'm liking tortillas/wraps, pasta, salad, strawberries and tomatoes/cucumbers. Oh and peanuts.

Gender: We'll find out when born!

Movement: Lots of it, mostly low and/or in my hip.

Worries: Nothing really. Regarding the pressure I'm feeling, doctor says normal, especially since baby is so low, and did recommend I buy a prenatal cradle. I made fun of those last pregnancy so it was tough to do, but that thing really does help.

The belly: Still growing. I think I'm carrying low.
Excuse the tired look, but just keeping it real

What I'm Loving: The weather seems to be taking a turn for the better and I'm thrilled. We've had two family walks outside (I even jogged about a quarter mile on Monday and it felt great) and I've been getting out with a coworker on my lunch break.

Symptoms: Mostly just the back pain, but I'm starting to get the sinuses again as well.

Milestones: I really have a hard time with this category so it's probably going to disappear

Big Brother: Nothing especially cute or different this week, but he keeps telling people he has a baby in his belly, like mommy!

What's different this time: Mostly that the baby is so low. And since we have the knowledge of how big my babies are now, I had a good talk with my dr. at last week's appt. - ultrasound to check growth at 36 weeks, and we go from there. If baby is 80-90th percentiles, we will likely induce at 39 weeks. I'm still not thrilled with an induction, but at peace with it (especially since that means getting this baby out even sooner!)

What I'm looking forward to: Our master suite project being DONE so I can get back to life as normal.

Best moment of the week: Sleeping in our room again and enjoying the new furniture. We are touching up the bathroom now and the chest hubs is using had some minor damage so they are sending us a new one to replace it, so the project isn't completely done, but it's nice to have a bit of my space back, even though it isn't exactly organized.

Baby R2: 28 weeks

How far along: 28 weeks, officially in the third trimester. I'm 7 months pregnant, people!

How big is the baby: Baby weighs about 2.25 lbs. (about the size of an eggplant) and measures 14.8 inches from head to heels. He/she can now blink eyes and may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb.

Weight gain/loss: I didn't step on the scale today ... we've been painting, etc. in our master suite and everything is out of order.

Sleep: Well I've been sleeping on the pullout couch the last three days so you don't want to hear the answer to this. It's decently solid sleep, but crappy conditions (and DST isn't helping!)

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Taco bell. Carbs. Strawberries and cantaloupe. Lemonade.

Gender: We'll find out when born!

Movement: A ton. I love seeing the "ripples" on my belly.

Worries: Nothing big. I had another "episode" in which I had a ton of cramping/pressure on my cervix, but I'm thinking the workout/yoga-type pants I was wearing were too tight and hit me in the wrong spot.

The belly: Growing! I realized this was the same dress I wore a couple weeks ago so did a comparison - 26 vs. 28 weeks.

What I'm Loving: We had more time off last week due to snow/ice so of course that was great! My energy levels are mostly crap these days.

Symptoms: Back pain. My normally very deep belly button is now an outtie. Wah!

Milestones: Does being in the final trimester count?

Big Brother: After eating and looking at his big belly rubs it and says "I have baby sister in my belly, like mommy!"

What's different this time: I looked back and it sounds like I had a killer sinus infection. I'm not going to say I'm healthy as a horse or anything right now but thankfully I'm not messing with something like that again (yet ... knock on wood.) Also been keeping up regular workouts and I'm very glad for that little escape.

What I'm looking forward to: Sleeping in my new bed tomorrow! Well, assuming the mattress gets delivered (we bought it at a different store.)

Best moment of the week: We had some errands to run over the weekend and dropped C off with my parents. It was great to have a few hours alone with my husband, eating CFA ...

Case of the Mondays

It's only Monday and pretty much the only thing getting me through the day is knowing that it's a two-day work week.

#springbreakforthewin

No but seriously. And yes, this coming from the girl who was off Wednesday-Friday for another snow break.

Lemme complain for about a minute, K?

::We are having our new bedroom furniture delivered on Wednesday
::We already sold the old stuff. Which is great because it's out of the way, but J & I are sleeping on the pullout sofa which is about the most uncomfortable thing possible.
::Since our bedroom is EMPTY we are repainting the walls, doors and trim. Oh and then decided to caulk. And have the floors cleaned.
::When I say floors cleaned, I don't just mean our bedroom. No, my dear, dear husband decided to have them cleaned in the master, hallway, living room AND the tile in both bathrooms and the kitchen. Not one room in my house is put together and it's driving me insane.
::Did I mention we still have to paint all of the trim? And now he's talking about repainting the vanity in the master bath, which is where I do 90 percent of my getting ready?

Obviously I'm glad that the house is getting cleaned, it's just a lot all at once for me, especially since the list is getting out of control and we still have so much work to do. I may or may not have had a huge freak out over it all yesterday and cried a solid 10 minutes. Then add this stupid Daylight Savings Time into the mix and it's just got me on edge.

I need to win the lottery so I can pay someone to do all this work while I pop up my feet and relax at a hotel, oblivious to it all.

Baby R2: 27 weeks!

How far along: 27 weeks ... third trimester, baby! (Depending on who you ask, but I'm definitely over 2/3 of the way there!!!)

How big is the baby: Baby is about 2 lbs. and 14.5 inches long ... size of a head of cauliflower! He/she is sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing eyes and perhaps even sucking fingers. (Gah, not another thumb sucker!) Brain tissue is developing and baby's brain is very active now. Lungs still immature but would be capable of functioning with A LOT of help if born right now.

Weight gain/loss: Exactly 20 lbs. It was 13 at this point with Cooper so I'm basically planning for 30 lbs.

Sleep: Great!

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: More of the same - carbs, berries and sweet tea.

Gender: We'll find out when born!

Movement: Yes. Lots of it! This baby is an attention whore like mama and really gets moving when someone is giving the belly attention.

Worries: I'm feeling A LOT of pressure on my cervix at times. The dr. said this is completely normal since its my second and the baby is so low. Cooper and Jimmy did something that made me laugh so hard the other day I seriously thought I was about to go into labor. Thankfully it passed quickly.

The belly: Lots of growing but everyone still says I look tiny for 27 weeks. I know the baby is bigger than average so I'll take it as a compliment!

What I'm Loving: Just being at this good point of pregnancy ... I'm visibly pregnant but not too miserable. Actually getting in regular workouts and feeling pretty good!

Symptoms: Just some back pain here and there but nothing too crazy.

Milestones: I can't think of anything.

Big Brother: I feel like he's really sensing the changes and getting much more clingy. He wants to stay home or go to work with me every day ... but then doesn't want to come home when I go to pick him up from daycare. We are expecting more sleet/snow tonight/tomorrow, so he may get his wish the rest of the week.

What's different this time: I had my first stretch mark pop up at this time last pregnancy. I've been really lathering up and they are still pretty faded from last time/no new ones have popped up yet!

What I'm looking forward to: We are spring break next week and our new king size bed is being delivered so I'm all kinds of happy!

Best moment of the week: We went to a fish fry with THE BEST fish on Friday, so it was a pregnant woman's dream.
